This year, we’re splashing into the community spirit by partnering with BoatSmith 2025, the ultimate gathering of water-loving daredevils and brave boaters who laugh in the face of whitewater (and occasionally scream). To sweeten the deal, we’re donating free rent certificates for secure storage of your boats, kayaks, and all the gear you can’t fit in your garage anymore.

BoatSmith isn’t just an event—it’s a lifestyle. Imagine a weekend filled with camping, racing, music, and enough river antics to make Poseidon himself jealous. Taking place at the Patrick Creek Campground, this event is the perfect opportunity to test your bravery (or at least your ability to laugh at yourself).

Here’s what you can expect—assuming you survive the rapids:

Event Highlights:

Free Camping: Patrick Creek Campground is throwing its gates open starting at 3 PM on Thursday, February 13th. First-come, first-served, so don’t sleep in or you’ll be pitching a tent in your neighbor’s canoe. If you’re feeling fancy, there are paid options at Panther Flat Campground (6 miles west) or Jed Smith Campground (17 miles west). For the adventurous types, dispersed camping spots are scattered across the Smith River National Area—just make sure you’re not setting up camp in a bear’s living room.

Film Night: On Friday night, settle in under the stars for a showing of the water-themed classic, The Slammin’ Salmon. Bring a blanket, some popcorn, and a willingness to laugh at fish-related chaos.

Race Day: Saturday is when the magic (or mayhem) happens! The exact race locations will be determined based on conditions, because, you know, rivers are unpredictable like that. Afterward, celebrate your triumphs (or hilarious defeats) with awards, a raffle, and live music.

• Two food vendors will keep you fueled for adventure:
• Juanita’s Mexican Food
• Sugar Pine Dine (serving everything from grilled cheese and tomato soup to breakfast bowls and salads)
• Pro tip: Bring cash! The cell service here is so spotty, you’ll feel like you’re back in the 90s trying to connect to dial-up.

Raffle and Prizes:

Get ready for the raffle of a lifetime! Prizes include:

A Sotar IK (that’s a fancy inflatable kayak, not a new sci-fi robot)

A Kokatat PFD (because safety is sexy)
